Hanlon is proud to be part of a transformational healthcare project in the Solomon Islands, contributing our drainage and plumbing expertise to the construction of the new Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre in Honiara.

This essential development is being delivered in collaboration with Reeves International and Icon, under the guidance of the Australian High Commission as part of its continued commitment to supporting health and infrastructure across the Pacific. The project is a cornerstone of the Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP), which aims to strengthen healthcare access and outcomes for local communities.

Hanlon has been contracted to deliver the drainage and plumbing systems for the facility, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, sustainability, and functionality. Our systems have been designed to support the needs of a modern maternity and health centre, incorporating reliable water infrastructure and efficient wastewater management suited to the local climate and environmental conditions.

Once complete, the Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre will offer a full suite of maternal and general health services. These include antenatal, birthing, and postnatal care, as well as outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy support, and specialised services such as eye and dental care. The facility will play a crucial role in easing pressure on the National Referral Hospital and improving access to essential care for the growing population in East Honiara.

The project has already engaged more than 40 local workers on site, with strong involvement from the community throughout the planning and construction phases. A vibrant mural now displayed around the construction zone highlights local healthcare heroes and reflects the shared sense of ownership and pride in what this new facility will mean for the region.

Hanlon is honoured to support this meaningful project alongside trusted partners. The Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre represents a lasting investment in the wellbeing of the Solomon Islands families and is a testament to the power of collaboration in delivering infrastructure that truly makes a difference.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2026, with the Australian Government continuing to support the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Honiara City Council through the final handover and operational transition.
