Hanlon Celebrates Double Gold at 2025 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards

Hanlon is proud to announce its involvement in two projects that were honoured with Gold Awards at the 2025 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards, recognising construction excellence across the country. Both projects were delivered in partnership with Hawkins, showcasing the strength of collaboration between contractors, consultants, and specialist trades.
University of Auckland Human Sciences Building (B201)
The redevelopment of the Human Sciences Building (B201) at the University of Auckland has been recognised with a Gold Award in the Education category. Spanning three years, the project transformed a 50-year-old structure into a world-class academic facility with a 6 Green Star rating, meeting the highest sustainability and seismic standards.
Hanlon was proud to deliver the hydraulic plumbing package on this large-scale, future-focused project. Working alongside Hawkins and a range of other trusted partners, our team provided plumbing solutions that aligned with the redevelopment's ambitious environmental goals and technical requirements. The work included full seismic upgrades, services replacement, and integration of plumbing across refurbished North and East wings, as well as into the newly constructed timber atrium.
This was not only a critical infrastructure upgrade for the university but also a transformative project for staff and students, supporting long-term academic growth and sustainable design in New Zealand's tertiary education sector.
Totara Haumaru, North Shore Hospital
Also taking home a Gold Award, this time in the health category, was the Totara Haumaru development at North Shore Hospital. This project marks the largest expansion of the hospital in 50 years and responds directly to the rapid population growth across Auckland's northern region.
Hanlon played a key role in this significant healthcare infrastructure project, delivering plumbing systems that serve 150 inpatient beds, eight operating theatres, four endoscopy suites, and a wide range of support facilities. The hospital was built to IL4 seismic standards and includes an award-winning healing garden designed to promote recovery and wellbeing.
Totara Haumaru is more than just a hospital extension - it is a vital asset for growing community, built with resilience, sustainability, and patient care at its core.
Hanlon congratulates Hawkins, all project partners, and the wider delivery teams on these outstanding achievements. We're incredibly proud to have been part of both award-winning builds and remain committed to delivering excellence across every project we're involved in.
